Can students use Canvas to email the instructor?

Hello,

I'm new to Canvas and can see that I can email students using the Inbox. Can they also email me via Canvas? I'd like them to submit weekly discussion questions and this may be a good way to do so.

Yes they can.  They just select the instructor for the course from the list of options when they click on the icon on the right end of the to line.

They should be able to start typing in your name in the to field to have your name come up as an option

Have you thought about using the discussions area of Canvas for your weekly submissions?
