Is there a feature to filter out early submissions and give extra points to early submissions? I understand the gradebook and be exported, modified and uploaded back but this is extremely error prone. Thanks in advance for your feedback
Hello @HermelaBelachew
Thanks for posting this in the Canvas Community!
I looked into this for quite a while I am sharing what I found.
There is not a feature that would allow you to filter out early submissions and give out extra points on them. Currently the only way to look at submissions made early would be to check in Speedgrader. If a student submits, the submission will show the date and time the submission was collected. If a student submits and resubmits, the gradebook should show a color status. You can also look at the details of each submission in Speedgrader for any given student.
As far as giving out extra credit, there is not a default option or function to do this. Currently extra credit is strictly up to the instructor's discretion. Typically you would use a 0 point assignment, or you would just award extra points to the student on the assignment, discussion or quiz you are using for this.
Hopefully this helps a little!

Hi, Would anyone know why the syllabus I need to edit is locked. I am editing from the blueprint course. I was able to log in and update prior, but it's now locked.
This is my first time using the new discussion "checkpoints". I'm hoping the multiple due dates are effective, but using the "checkpoints" does seem to create other problems: They only allow for ONE "reply to topic". The way I use discussions in some of my classes is to allow for students to ask MULTIPLE questions per…
I tried the Quick Reassess feature today. Once I approved the questions and created the assessment it went to the tracker for Block 1. But I can't find the new assessment in my assessments to add to Blocks 2 & 4. If I have to recreate for each class, they won't have the same questions. I also cannot find the option to…
Greetings, I am embedding a Storyline module into Canvas for our school. When I upload the ZIP file, Canvas provides three options: Load as a graded assignment Load as an ungraded assignment Create a page based on the content However, in all three cases, I do not have access to modify the HTML or adjust the iframe display…
Hello Everybody!!! I'm new here! :) How do you create a meeting with your class group in Canvas? When I attempt to compose a message, I select the course and then choose “Student Group,” but the only option that appears is a “Back” button with an arrow. No student names or group members appear for me to contact.
