I work with student onboarding and regularly encounter students whose names have unique spellings and pronunciations. LinkedIn has a feature that allows users to record the pronunciation of their names, and I believe a similar feature in Canvas would be valuable for instructors, advisors, and student support staff.
I often meet students whose names I have only seen in writing, a pronunciation recording attached to a student profile would allow staff and faculty to learn and practice a student's preferred pronunciation before interacting with them, creating a more welcoming and inclusive experience from the first conversation.
I'd appreciate it if this suggestion could be forwarded to the appropriate product team for consideration.
