Is it possible to bulk export rubrics across an institution?

I've been in lots of discussions with colleagues about rubrics and the way academics construct them (eg. points vs ranges, type of grading scheme, format of criterion descriptions and rating descriptions, has the "Use this rubric for assignment grading" setting been selected, how many criterions is common, what is the distribution of total rubric points across all rubrics).

I was wondering whether it's possible at an institution level to download ALL rubrics as a csv file or equivalent so that we can interrogate how they are set up. Is it possible (and easy)?

Hello @KenJohnson1 - yes, this can be done using Canvas Data and via the Canvas API. You'll need someone that has access and experience with these tools. For example, touching base with your Canvas admin. It is worthy to note that setting these up from scratch is not trivial nor easy. Another caveat is much of the data you are seeking (points vs ranges, type of grading scheme, format of criterion descriptions and rating descriptions, etc.) is stored in a single data field using what is called 'json' format. That is to say, even if you were able to extract the data, you would need programming capability and/or the correct database tools in order to disaggregate that data into a csv file such as you mentioned in order for a human to analyze. A GenAI tool may be able to summarize the data easy enough though.
