Allowing two items to be uploaded to an assignment

Hi everyone,

I have an assignment where I want students to upload both a video recording, using the video cam in canvas, as well as uploading a word/pdf document. For some reason the students don't seem to be able to do both. I have made both the media and file uploads available to them. Is there something else I need to do or what better instructions can I provide them with? Thank you.

Hello @zahmed01 - I faced the same desire just two weeks back. I settled on the file upload assignment type and in the assignment instructions, I task the students to include a link to the video recording at the end of the Word .docx file, on a new worksheet of the Excel .xlsx file, etc.. I ask them to use Canvas Studio so it would be the public link.

But yes, I would prefer to not have to do so.

this has been a long standing feature request that has never been addressed. I suggest submitting it as a contribution to the new collaborative roadmap and initiating a discussion in the Canvas LMS area of the community.

Thank you both. I'll do that.

On another note -They seem to have done some upgrades with the rubrics. You are now able to download them individually or as a group, to Excel. I don't know how long that has been available but I only just noticed it yesterday.

I'm hoping I can upload a rubric the same way instead of having to put in each criteria separately.

Hi @zahmed01, you will need to test it for your purposes but what if you use the option 'text entry box' and ask them to use the RCE to attach a file via insert > document > upload document and use the option for the recording there? I tried this via the student view and it worked - you will get a link with the document and see the video recording as well in the SpeedGrader. It would be way easier to have the other options and you probably will need to explain how to use the options to upload a document and do the recording, but maybe but worth a try?

Only one submission type per submission is allowed. Students need to make multiple submissions. Both will show up in Speedgrader.

In your instructions reiterate that they need to submit one and then the other.
