Speed grader font popup

When I am in speed grader this font box keeps popping up and blocking the name of my student and navigation. This is issue is new to me and is annoying. The only way I know how to resolve it is refreshing the browser with each student assignment. See red circled section.

Does anybody know how to get rid of it or disable the feature?

Hi All. Thanks for your feedback.

It took me a while to do this, but I'm able to reproduce this now. Here is how:

I am in speedgrader and I grade the assignment. Then I put a comment in the comment section and click submit. When I click the right arrow to move to the next student, that is when it happens.

Here is what I have figured out. If I reduce my Zoom on Chrome to 90%, it returns down to just above the text box where it belongs.

So in my case, using Chrome at the 'natural' zoom of 100% seems to create this issue on my CB. I am using an Acer CP514-1W. I am running the latest Chrome and latest Chrome OS. I've had this CB for about 2 years and have graded on it all that time and have only experienced this more recently so something has either changed in Canvas or the Chrome browser, I would imagine. I do have the CB Settings Display at 130% (1182x665 resolution…my old eyes need it) but that has been my static setting since I received this device. I'm sure that has some play in this as well.

I also tested it on my personal CB which is an ASUS with a much larger screen and I was able to reproduce it if I increased my Chrome browser zoom to 125%, however not at 110%. I have my CB display set at 140% (1271x857 resolution)

So, I believe the issue is screen resolution combined with Chrome zoom exceeding whatever boundaries that text modifier can stay mounted above the text box.

I can see where this would be quite frustrating. I've never seen it before; I attempted to replicate the issue in my instance of Canvas and was unable to mimic it. I will keep trying with different assignment types to see if I can get it to pop up. What are the options you can see if you tap on the vertical ellipsis?

That bar on the top of your screen looks like it belongs above the textbox at the bottom (see my screenshot here). Have you tried loading SpeedGarder with a different browser or on a different device to see if it behaves properly? The bar definitely shouldn't be up on top, but figuring out what's causing it to be there is going to be a bit of guess and check (maybe it's an outdated operating system or browser, maybe a browser extension interfering, maybe a school/institution customization gone wrong, etc).

I notice it's appearing there on top of the students dropdown seemingly rather than where it's expected at the top of the comment box below. It should obviously be displaying between the comment library speech bubble icon and the text entry box below that.

Can you grab some information from that toolbar with a right click > inspect? That additional information might help narrow down what's going on here…

Do you now if you are you using the SpeedGrader enhancements? Any custom CSS?
