Can I have Canvas Course Calendar only show today and future items in the To Do list?

Question

For a specific course I have, I only using Events (I am not using the Assignments tab) for the Course Calendar. I do not want past items showing up in the Student's "To Do" list, only Today and Future.  Is there a way to set that up this option on this course? I am posting webinars, meetings, etc., not class assignments.

Great question, I can understand why you’d want to keep the To Do list focused only on current and upcoming items.

Based on the Canvas LMS Student Guide “How do I use the To Do list and Sidebar?”, the To Do list automatically displays graded assignments and calendar events with due dates. The guides do not document a course-level setting that limits the list to only today and future items.

Additionally, the Canvas Instructor Guide “How do I add an event in the Calendar?” does not include an option to control how long events appear in the To Do list.

According to the Canvas Guides, there isn’t a way to automatically hide past events from the To Do list for a specific course.

If you’d prefer not to populate the To Do list, one Canvas-based approach supported by the guides would be to share webinar or meeting information through Announcements instead of dated calendar events.
