JMP is a statistical software package (www.jmp.com) and in the past Canvas treated .jmp files as any other document (like .xlsx or .docx) and clicking would download the file, but now Canvas acts like .jmp data files are media (like audio or video) which makes Canvas try to display a preview of .jmp files instead of just downloading them. This confuses students and causes extra steps for them.
.jmp files should be treated in such a way to simply download when clicked.
