This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 12/03/25.
Description
When rich text content in a course contains a link to a New Quizzes quiz, the course is exported as an imscc file, then the imscc file is imported in a new course the links the the New Quizzes quiz do not work in the new course.
- The quiz itself copies over successfully, but the links will point to $CANVAS_OBJECT_REFERENCE$/assignments/:assignment_migration_id_here where :assignment_migration_id_here is replaced with the identified for the assignment in the export package.
- If the same content is copied using the Copy a Canvas course option instead of exporting and importing then the links are copied over without any issues.
Expected Behavior
Instead links to New Quizzes should still function after exporting and importing an imscc file containing a quiz and rich text content with a link to the quiz
Workaround
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce
Prerequisites: Two courses, with one course containing a page and a New Quizzes quiz
In the course with the page and quiz, add a link to the quiz on the page (Insert > Link > Course Link > Quizzes > select the quiz) and save
Export the course containing the page and quiz, and download the imscc file generated
In the second course, import the imscc file using the Canvas Course Export Package option in the Course Import Tool
Once the import completes access the imported page and note that the link to the New Quizzes quiz is broken even though the quiz imported successfully
