This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 10/22/25.
Description
PPXT and XLSX files do not preview while using the newly redesigned files page. Instead it displays the error “No Preview Available.“ However if you switch to the old files view, it then previews as expected.
Expected Behavior
Since it’s working in the old files view, it should also preview in the new files design.
Workaround
Switching to the older files view allows it to be previewed.
Steps to Reproduce
Prerequisite: A Canvas course that is using the new Files Redesign

In the Canvas course, upload a PPTX or XLSX file (See attached for example file).

Once the file is uploaded, attempt to preview it, notice that you cannot.

However, notice that if you select the option to swap to the Old Files Page, the file then previews as expected.
