I am unable to add a particular student to Canvas despite doing SIS import thrice. User gets added successfully, however, upon searching cannot be found under students.

It might be that the student is not set up in your institutions account, if they do not have their set up as a user (e.g. student) you will not be able to add them to a course. These guides might be of assistance.
