Change time zone in Canvas Android App Without Changing the Phone's Time Zone

My school is in the Central US time zone and I live in the Eastern US time zone. On my PC, Canvas is set to Central time and all of the assignments are due at 11:59pm on say for example August 24. On the app, the to-do list shows 12:59am August 25. I feel that this may accidentally cause me to submit assignments a day late. Is there any way other than manually changing my phone's time zone that I can adjust the due date and time to match the school's time.

You cannot change the time zone for the Canvas Android app without changing your phone's time zone. The app automatically syncs with your device's time zone settings, which is why your due dates are displayed an hour later than they should be.

o fix this, you have two options:

1. Manually Adjust Your Phone's Time Zone: Change your phone's time zone to Central Time (CT) when you need to check due dates on the app. This will force the app to display the correct times. Don't forget to switch it back afterward!

2. Use the Web Browser: The most reliable way to avoid confusion is to use the Canvas web browser interface on your phone. Log in to Canvas through your mobile browser (like Chrome or Firefox) instead of the app. The web version allows you to set your time zone independently of your phone's settings, so you can keep it set to Central Time to see the correct due dates. You can even create a shortcut to the Canvas login page on your home screen for quick access. This essentially gives you the functionality of the app with the added benefit of a customizable time zone setting.

   This is often the best long-term solution as it avoids the hassle of constantly changing your phone's settings and ensures you're always viewing accurate deadlines.
