Just like students, professors have the ability to turn off or adjust the frequency of their notifications. Therefore, your professor may or may not be getting notifications for submission comments.
If you are concerned that your professor may not see your submission comment, I would consider reaching out to your professor through the Canvas Inbox, with an email, or talk to them in person if it is an in person class.
