Is anyone else having trouble deleting the default outcome in a rubric? It was working fine last week. Today the trash can is not there
@PaulaJenson -
I am assuming you mean the default criteria. I just checked it out, and I am seeing what you are when creating a new rubric. I checked an existing one and went into edit and the trash can was there to delete. I then went back to the new one and edited it and the trash can appeared.
What I found is create the rubric, click on update rubric and then reload the rubric page and then go into edit mode for the new rubric to see the trash can.

I received a message from Instructure Support regarding the issues with outcomes / rubrics in Canvas. Please see the message below. It appears a fix is just around the corner:
Hello,
Your Canvas case 10662810 has been updated with a new message.
Hello, Our engineers have created a fix that has passed initial QA testing. The next step is for this fix to be deployed to our Beta environment, where it will be available for Teachers and other Administrators to test, and to ensure it is working properly before it will be added to our live Production environment. We will provide another update once the fix has been applied to the Beta environment, or if there are any other changes to its status. This ticket will remain in an "On-Hold" status at this time. We appreciate your patience throughout the process of testing and implementing a fix for this issue - if you have any questions about this message or the status of this fix, please feel free to contact Support. Thanks!

Cool work around, but that's a lot of clicks, right? Like, this is broken. Will it be fixed?
I am having this same issue. We use Canvas Outcomes for our assessment processes. This is going to be a big problem for our assessments results in the Outcomes Report. The work around is extraordinarily cumbersome. Is there a way to urge the fix along?
I'd be keen to see a fix for this too. the workarounds aren't ideal.
Please fix this issue. It is difficult enough to encourage faculty to use rubrics. We need this interface to be efficient.
Greetings!
I have another update from Canvas Support regarding the default criteria in rubrics. The fix is indeed working in the beta environment. I tried it, and everything functioned as it should. The trash can appeared next to the default criteria, and I was able to remove it from the rubric. The fix should go live on April 10, 2024. I am very relieved this will be fixed before the end of the semester.
Hi everyone, I've got several pages and assignments where I use frames to embed videos and interactive resources. But whenever I go into editing, the formatting in some of them breaks down: the video size shrinks down, or I'm left with an empty blank space. I think I've narrowed down the cause of this issue: Some of these…
The most recent quizzes and question banks (including renames) are not showing up as options in the Course Import Tool. As I was creating a new quiz in one course (Classic), I went to add the questions from the Question Bank, but what I needed wasn't there. I went back to the other course to make sure everything was…
In the wake of the recent Canvas security incident, many instructors are rethinking how they protect their course materials and ensure continuity for students if the LMS becomes unavailable. A common question we’re hearing is how to effectively back up courses “just in case,” especially with an eye toward re‑distributing…
Hi all, Quick question about the Gradebook color status for a 2-part checkpoint discussion. If a student completes the first due date (initial post) but does not complete the required replies by the second due date, is there any way for Canvas to automatically show a color (e.g., missing/late) instead of staying as…
Canvas Portfolios provide a powerful platform for students to document their learning journey, reflect on their progress, and showcase competencies. However, in programs where multiple educators are involved in assessment—such as team teaching, moderation, or competency-based evaluation—there are important questions about…
