multiple submissions

Question

On assignments that have open-ended questions, the default submission (if multiples are allowed) to load on the Speed Grader is the most recent. I have two questions:

Is there a way to set the Speed Grader default to the highest (from the multiple choice part) instead of most recent?

If we ONLY grade the most recent submission, will we have trouble closing out the student at the end of the year with prior submissions ungraded?

I am not sure if there is a way to set Speed Grader to the first option rather than the most recent so cannot answer that.

For the other question, multiple submissions for a single assignment should not be a problem. As far as Canvas sees the assignment, as long as you have graded one of the submissions, the assignment is seen as graded even if there are multiple prior submissions.
