Can't See Student Assignment Resubmissions

Question

I have had a consistent problem where I can't see students' resubmitted assignments. No drop down with "submission to view" as shown on this page https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/Can-a-student-resubmit-Canvas-assignments/ta-p/647 appears in speedgrader. However, I know students have submitted new assignments because the assignment is now appearing as "ungraded" in Speedgrader (and they told me they resubmitted). However, I'm still seeing the old version of their assignment only, although I also see the prompt to "Use this same grade for resubmission."

How do I access the other submissions?

Seems odd, but check to make sure they are actually hitting submit. A similar thing has happened in my class. Quite a few times, they upload the assignment but fail to hit submit, so it is sitting there parked in some sort of Canvas limbo.
