I am implementing and testing Honorlock in Canvas and it appears that Honorlock does not work with New Quizzes. Is this correct?
At this time, it does not. They both use the "External Tool" area for the quiz if I have understood this correctly.

Wish I had known this before creating my entire summer course! Spent all day back and forth with students and Honorlock support. Finally just remade the whole test in classic.
Really stinks though because I much prefer New Quizzes and use the new question formats.
There is a way to do this that involves registering the quiz as a third party exam in Honorlock: https://honorlock.kb.help/register-canvas-new-quizzes-as-third-party-exams/.
You must follow the instructions very carefully including to add a password to the exam that Honorlock will use to unlock it; otherwise, it will not work.
Students access the quiz through the Honorlock tool in the course navigation rather than by opening the quiz itself. You will want to provide instructions that make this explicitly clear.
As of 1/24/24 Honorlock now fully supports New Quizzes. Should work just like old quizzes does!
I was excited to see Honorlock's announcement about this, but we just tried to use it with a New Quiz and it isn't working. I'm working with Honorlock Support now to see what the issue is.
We also had an issue with HL and New Quizzes just a couple of weeks ago. Some students were getting an error message and some were actually able to take it but the sessions weren't being properly proctored. When one student reported an issue directly to HL, they were told it was an issue with the instructor's quiz settings.
When I reached out to HL directly, I was told "Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug with the New Quizzes that is currently under investigation." They said that they would add me to their ticket and would let me know once the issue had been resolved, but I have yet to hear anything.
So I've been suggesting to folks that they continue to use the "Register Canvas New Quizzes as Third-Party Exams" option until we get confirmation that the bugs with HL are fixed.
Will definitely appreciate hearing about it if it's working well now for other folks.
Alrighty, after a week of testing with live students we have had several issues with Honorlock and New Quizzes. While some students reported no problems, many more reported honor lock stopping recording and allowing them to continue the quiz. We see this in the video reviews where the screen just goes black for the remainder of the quiz shortly after the student begins a quiz.Other students noted that if the question type required an upload, honor lock prevented them from uploading/answering the question. No issues with any of the other question types.So it's pretty unreliable right now and we have decided to not use it. Will try again over the summer.
