Is there a way to find or create a list of students who have contributed to a discussion board? The board is not tied to the gradebook so we can't use that.
Hello @bmaas1
Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. The short answer is - not really. Ideally, you could make the discussion graded and worth 0 points so that you can use the speedgrader and quickly see which students have submitted and which haven't. Besides that, you'd need to manually look through the discussion and view which students have contributed. Sometimes, we can run API calls to get lists for things like this but it doesn't look like the call exists for your specific request:

Perhaps other users have found alternatives but those are likely your options without running other reports - but even then - most of those require them to be "assignments" to compile a list or csv of which users didn't contribute.
Thank you so much! I like the grade as 0 idea, that's super helpful, I'll recommend that to the faculty member. Thank you!
I am setting up my courses for this year and I realized that when I opend the mastery-based gradebook, there is no color coding. When I open last years's course that had color-coding last time I opened it in the spring, it no longer has colors. The colors appear in the individual student view, but not in the all class view.
Hoping someone can explain for me. We're using pacing to avoid manually dating regular assignments each quarter, but the dates I see are based on when the course was instantiated, while students see dates based on when they were added to the course by [backend software I don't know anything about, presumably]. If I set…
Has anyone else had issues with an influx of duplicate users in Canvas? Ours is currently in the form of an email that already exists, becoming a new user - and not automatically merging with the user ID with the same email that also is linked to our SIS ID correctly as well. For example, user 1 is xyz@gmail.com without a…
Canvas Portfolios provide a powerful platform for students to document their learning journey, reflect on their progress, and showcase competencies. However, in programs where multiple educators are involved in assessment—such as team teaching, moderation, or competency-based evaluation—there are important questions about…
I have a student that was in a tag called "ac" and recently moved him to a different tag, "AC." I did ensure the old tag was removed; however on a canvas PAGE he sees both pages the "ac" and "AC" Canvas Pages. I removed the assigned tags to the page and the one tag to the student thinking maybe if I remove and reassign…
