Whenever I open a Power Point slide on Canvas, there's this wasted white space at the right side of my screen and I really want to expand the "slides screen" all the way to the right edge to not see any wasted space. Is there a way to do it?
@GigaHertzzz ...
At the top of your PowerPoint presentation, there are a small handful of tool buttons that you can click on. Just to the right of the + and - Zoom buttons, there is a diagonal double-pointed arrow. This will enlarge the PowerPoint to fill most of your screen ... though there still may be some white borders on each side. You can press the "Esc" key on your keyboard to return to your normal course view.
Regarding the white column where the PowerPoint isn't displaying anything. This is actually a setting that is controlled by your school's Canvas administrator(s). It is a Feature Option called "New User Tutorial". My guess is that your Canvas admin(s) do not have this setting enabled. I know this setting sounds unrelated, but if it is enabled, then you will see that a lot of your content in your Canvas courses will fill out more to the edge of the screen rather than showing that white space. If you had a conversation with your school's Canvas admin(s), maybe they would be willing to flip this switch "on". But, keep in mind that turning "New User Tutorial" on would enable it for everyone at your school...not just you and the others in your class...as it affects every class that is in Canvas. This is the admin Guide that you could show your Canvas admin:

I hope this will help a bit. Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
I have used Blackboard, Moodle, and now work at a Canvas university. When grading quiz items. I want the ability to view all of the students' responses to a single item at once. This could allow consistency in grading and speed up the grading process. This functionality has been available in Moodle for over 10 years.
Has anyone ever encountered this error in the Admin Analytics Student section?
My class policy is that late assignments can be accepted at professor discretion, but they will have a 50% penalty. This is a gate you pass through once, and there are no further penalties. If it's late, you simply get 50% deducted from whatever the score was. This happens regardless of whether it's 5 hours late or 5 weeks…
Teachers often assume that because an assignment is a groupassignment, they will automatically grade it per group via SpeedGrader. With the option “Grade students individually”, they think they’re simply assigning the group grade to each individual student — without realizing that this option actually requires them to…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
