I've successfully had my students synce their Canvas calendar with their Google Calendar, however, only events are syncing NOT assignments, is that an error on my end or are Canvas Assignments not able to sync?

As far as I have experienced, assignments should be included in the calendar sync as long as dates are attached to them. The How do I subscribe to the Calendar feed using Goog... - Instructure Community guide also indicates the same as it says "The calendar feed will contain events and assignments from all of your Canvas calendars."
I know this is a relatively old question, but if your students are still experiencing the issue, I'd recommend having the contact Canvas Support to investigate further.
