Can announcements, or any due dates, be sent to students by way of text messaging? I have students asking for that feature.

As long as the student(s) have gone in and setup their phone number as a contact method within Canvas (https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-add-a-text-SMS-contact-method-in-Canvas-as-a-student/ta-p/411) and setup to allow Canvas to send those types of notifications to their cell phone (https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-manage-my-Canvas-notification-settings-as-a-student/ta-p/434) then they should start getting these types of notifications via text.
I'm assuming Canvas text notifications have gone away considering they are now only used for MFA? Anyone able to verify?

Among all the things that I wish Canvas had is that one! Is it something that is been worked on? We had it in Blackboard (legacy) and I sorely miss and need in Canvas (we just transitioned to it from Bb). Please add this very needed feature!
