Can the app be downloaded onto the an Amazon Fire tablet? Or is there another way they can do their work on this type of tablet?
The Canvas Student app is available for iOS and Android devices. There may be a couple of extra steps you get you there, but I think that because Fire OS is an Android-Based system this may work. First, you'll have to install the Google Play Store app from the Amazon Appstore onto the Fire tablet. Then, from the Play Store, look for Canvas Student.

@kkelly4 (hope I tagged the right one). While not an officially supported app, you can access Canvas on a Kindle Fire using the Silk browser that comes installed on the tablet. I hope that helps!
Google Play doesn't even show up as an option to download. But you can BUY step by step Kindle directions for "how to install Google play store on Kindle." *groan*
I'm trying to install Canvas on my kindle so that I can read my homework on there and use an electronic note-taker (scanning pen device). Anyone have insight about that? Or an alternate way to take dissertation notes from electronic sources?
Hello, I have replied recently to this post, and since I just got my Kindle Fire 10, I found a workaround that allows me to download Canvas for Students to my Kindle Fire 10 Plus. I have Canvas on my Fire now and it works really well. If you don't mind going outside the box, How-To Geek has the perfect bypass for downloading the Google Play Store to your Kindle. The step-by-step instructions were easy enough for me to follow without making any mistakes. Here is their link: https://www.howtogeek.com/232726/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-your-amazon-fire-tablet/
It is important to follow their instructions completely and pay attention to detail. The whole process is pretty quick. I would read it first, then go back and do it. On the "canvas on Fire" image I attached, just long-press the links that apply to your model and open it in another tab. When you have them all downloaded, they tell you the correct order to install each one. After you have restarted your Kindle, I would let it all update about an hour before charging in to finish up. If you encounter issues with Google, it just needs time to update. You may get the occasional dialogue box on Canvas saying the Silk browser isn't compatible, but I just x it out, and it doesn't give me any trouble. Totally worth having the Canvas app on my Fire. I have used How-To Geek many times before and they are trustworthy. If you find that you did something wrong, the worst-case scenario is you have to reset your Kindle to factory settings, so make sure you back up your stuff. Now I can download my favorite Google Play apps to my Kindle Fire. Good luck!
I'm a teacher that makes extensive use of Outcomes and alignments. The assignment view of my gradebook is pretty meaningless to students, and all of the information about growth and mastery of different learning objectives in the class is displayed in the Learning Mastery gradebook. Unfortunately, they can't see this view…
Hello Everyone, I'm Namrata Hinduja from Geneva, Swiss. Since updating to UI 7.0, I haven’t been able to access my to-do list—it just shows an "oops" error. I’ve already tried everything I could think of: logging out, starring courses, restarting my device, clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, and even removing the…
I have 3 children in the same school system. When using the mobile app it list all 3 children's classes. They are not organized and they are all jumbled together. They run by class period, then A or B day, and then alphabetical. I have a 12th grader, 11th grader, and 7th grader. There are simple additional filters that…
I have the Teacher Canvas app on my iPad. Last year, I was able to annotate student work with my Apple Pencil on uploaded student work. This year, however, when I click on the Assignment, I am unable to annotate the assignment. I can still assign a grade but I want to be able to indicate to the student where the errors are…
The To-do List Widget on Canvas (iOS) app for iPad and iPhone doesn’t show the material. Canvas reverted back to the older version of the To-do list but it doesn’t work. When you click on the widget it opens to the To-do list but does not show the material listed. The calendar section allows me to add a “New To Do” which…
