Why is there not an option for individual purchase of Canvas?

I work in a small district and have only been able to use the FFTs account because my district refuses to pay for Canvas. Myself and a few other educators have been working for the past 3 years to convince the district that Canvas is worth the money, but after the security issues and us being locked out of our FFTs accounts right before grades are due, we have essentially been told that moving to Canvas district wide will NOT be happening. I know that I would certainly be willing to pay out of my own pocket for an individual teacher account, but every sales rep that I have spoken to has made it abundantly clear that that will never be an option. It's hard for those of us who work for schools that are devout Google Classroom schools just because it's free for our small districts.

Can someone provide some more insight as to why that isn't/will never be a possibility?

I have been asking the same question for the past two years. I have contacted sale preps twice to if there is a subscription plan that works for me as an individual educator and I always ended hitting the wall there.

I am counting each day for Canvas FFT to be back.

Kristin Lundstrom, I would also like to echo what @KarianaBeyer81534168 said. I would really like to pay for my own version if possible. My situation is a little different. I have used FFT for over ten years and built several courses in Canvas. This year I moved to a district that has the paid version. It was easy for me to copy my courses into the district's paid plan. But due to family circumstances, I am having to move to a smaller district next year and would have to move back to a FFT account. I was in the process of rebuilding my FFT one module at a time (courses are too big to import to FFT) when the incident happened. I don't know if I successfully got everything copied over or not since I can't log in to verify it. I will lose access to the paid version (with all of my classes) this Friday. I just don't want to lose all of that work. I would happily pay for my own license so that I could use the paid version of Canvas.
