Wouldn't it have been easier...

Question

Instead of having the 48-hour window, which Instructure describes as being heavily resource-intensive, wouldn't it have been easier to start a batch process of creating export files for every Free For Teacher site, storing them in the cloud, and sending a link to the administrator of each site? And BTW, why not do that now?

Cloud space is cheap, and they only have to keep them out there for a few weeks. They were concerned about the man-hours to staff these windows, because they were monitoring traffic.

For me, I have 8 different courses. Not all need to be exported because I backed some up already. I just leave them there so I can easily copy the content. So they could end up creating exports for courses that teacher may not need exported. That is a lot of files to store in the cloud. So while easier for the user, it may create more than what is actually needed.

A solution might have been to open up two different windows so if someone missed the first one, they could get it the second time. Still won't catch everyone, but it would catch more.
