Key Takeaway: The New Quizzes Native Integration moves the New Quizzes experience out of its legacy iFrame layer and into the Canvas page, creating a more seamless experience while enabling third party tools to work more reliably during assessments.
As institutions increasingly rely on accessibility tools, translation services, and proctoring integrations, many have asked for a more seamless way for these tools to work within New Quizzes. By enabling New Quizzes to run natively in Canvas, this update removes previous architectural limitations, improves performance, and allows supported tools to interact more reliably with the quiz experience. This now includes support for ReadSpeaker to ensure a more inclusive experience for all learners.
To ensure seamless compatibility with your existing tools, we’ve confirmed full support for the following third-party solutions:
- Respondus
- Proctorio
- Schoolyear
- Smowltech
- SmarterServices
- Honorlock
This update represents one of the final steps in bringing New Quizzes to parity with Classic Quizzes, so institutions feel confident beginning or continuing their transition to the modern assessment experience in Canvas.
The native experience will be available as an opt-in feature beginning March 26, 2026 and will be enabled by default for all Canvas environments on July 1, 2026.
