New Features
Analytics: Shareable Report Configurations
Summary
Catalog admins can bookmark and share specific filtered views within Catalog Analytics. The system automatically captures filter configurations and embeds them directly into the browser URL.
Change Benefit
This functionality eliminates the need to manually re-apply filters, saving time during recurring data reviews. It facilitates precise collaboration by allowing team members to access identical data subsets through a single shared link.
Feature Workflow
In Catalog Analytics [1], apply desired filters to a report [2].
Save the URL as a bookmark or copy and send the link to authorized team members for immediate access to the filtered view.
Hours Added to Measurement Units
Summary
Catalog admins select Hours as a measurement unit for course and program listings. This option expands the available criteria beyond Credit, Point, and CEU to represent instructional time.
Change Benefit
Institutions accurately reflect the effort required for professional development and non-credit offerings. This addition ensures learning value aligns with specific training requirements or clock-hour certifications.
Feature Workflow
In the Catalog Info settings page, locate the Measurement drop-down menu [1]. In the list of available units, select the Hours unit [2].
Save the changes to display the unit on the course or program listing.
Updated Features
Certificates API Course Search
Summary
The Certificates API supports searches by Canvas Course ID. This expansion moves beyond the previous limitation of filtering exclusively by user name.
Change Benefit
Administrators gain granular control over certificate data management. Filtering by course streamlines the retrieval process for specific cohorts and eliminates the need to manually sort through individual user records.
Feature Workflow
Identify the target Canvas Course ID. Include the course_id parameter in the Certificates API GET request. Execute the call to retrieve all certificate records associated with that specific course.
Program Auto-Enrollment Enhancement
Summary
Catalog triggers automatic enrollment for all courses within a program immediately upon student registration. This includes courses scheduled for future start dates that previously required a deferred trigger.
Change Benefit
This adjustment creates a uniform enrollment process and provides immediate visibility into total participant numbers. It enables administrators to collect comprehensive enrollment data earlier and establishes a predictable experience for learners.
Feature Workflow
- Learner: Upon enrolling in a program (or the first course of a sequential program), the learner is automatically enrolled in all subsequent courses immediately. While the learner is officially enrolled, they cannot access or start a future-dated course until its specific start date is reached.
- Admin: Enrollment records for future-dated courses within a program are generated at the time of the initial program enrollment rather than on the course start date.
