Canvas deploys contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, improve performance, and prepare for new features. These deploys take place every two weeks and can be tested in the beta environment before the production deploy date indicated in the title of this document. Institutions are responsible for conducting thorough evaluations of their custom CSS/JS with each release and deploy to assess potential impacts.
Fixed bugs are located in Known Issues.
Unless otherwise stated, all features in this deploy are available in the Beta environment on 2025-12-18 and the Production environment on 2026-01-14.

Affected User Roles: Admin
Feature Option Name to Enable | N/A |
|---|
Enable Feature Option Location & Default Status | N/A |
Subaccount Configuration | N/A |
Account/Course Setting to Enable | None |
Permissions | Reports- manage |
Affects User Interface | No |
Affected Areas | Reports CSV |
Summary
The User Access Tokens report is updated to include columns for the creation date, status, purpose, and token ID.
Change Benefit
This update gives administrators clearer visibility and control over user-generated access tokens. By adding creation date, status, purpose, and token ID to the User Access Tokens report, admins can more easily audit tokens, identify outdated or unnecessary keys, and support tighter security practices. Including the token ID (or read-only token details) on the admin user page further streamlines management by making it easier to match tokens between the report and an individual user’s account, reducing manual effort and the risk of errors.
Infrastructure/Platform
Content Delivery Network (CDN) [Added 2026-01-05]
Affected Users: All users
Summary
Most Canvas instances are fronted by the AWS CloudFront CDN. This change does not impact Canvas appearance, domains, or functionality.
A small number of instances receive API GET requests with a body instead of query parameters, which CloudFront does not support. These instances have until April 18, 2026 to update request behavior.
All other instances are included in a gradual rollout during the first two weeks of January and are expected to transition seamlessly.
Instances excluded from the January rollout display a notice on the Developer Keys page.
Change Benefit
Serving Canvas assets through a CDN improves page load performance, network resiliency, and security.
