I am new to Canvas Free for Teachers.
When trying to add students using their email addresses. However, students report not receiving a Canvas email notification.
Please advise.
Hi @MarkLattery ,
Thank you for posting on the Instructure Community!
As someone who's been using Free for Teacher for a few years now, I always recommend requiring your students to sign up themselves, instead of you sending invitation emails. This process always seems to work better. They can register for a new account on the free version by going to either canvas.instructure.com/login/canvas or k12.instructure.com/login/canvas (whichever one you registered for), and in the top-right hand corner of the login menu they will see a button that says Need a Canvas Account? Click here! They can then select the student option, and can enter their email, name and the join code for your course. The join code will need to be enabled via your course settings, it's located towards the bottom.
I hope this helps and that this alternative will be a solution for you! Always feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns, always happy to help you! Welcome, and enjoy using Canvas!
All the best,Noah

Has anyone noticed that the feedback sidebar window has gone to larger spacing? Does anyone know if there is a way to change it back? Not a major deal just a bit annoying is all. Thanks.
Are you using MyTextMate's Canvas integration, or are you relying on Canvas's push notifications to deliver crucial information about due dates and events to students? Did you know push notifications have an open rate of 2%? Compare that to text messages, which have an open rate of 98%! MyTextMate allows students to…
I am trying to generate the Item Analysis report ONLY for the current students enrolled in the course, not for previous participants. Despite deactivating and removing the former students, the Item Analysis report is still including their information. I need information for the current 5 participants, not the past 5, but…
I am trying to setup automatic email alerts to the students once the assignment due date has crossed. Is there a way to do that with Free for Teachers Canvas or other alternate options?
