WHERE SHOULD I POST...?
I noticed in my testing that it doesn't display when assignment enhancements are turned on in a course. It is this on assignment enhancements team radar?
Hi there, this looks good. Back when it was first released, why was it made optional at an institutional level and not enforced? I'm trying to understand the history of it. Was there hesitation for any specific reason?
I'm not seeing the Immersive Reader button in our Canvas for Elementary courses, anywhere...not on regular pages or any of the new locations. It is showing up in classic Canvas courses.
Ok, sorry, I am seeing it on regular pages, and I am seeing it on assignments, as long as they are not an External Tool assignment which was what I was looking at earlier. Did I miss that limitation in the documentation? I wouldn't expect the embedded 3rd party content to work, but was expecting the teacher's assignment details show up in Immersive Reader.
In C4E, I am not seeing the IR button on the course Homepage. When I toggle my sandbox between subaccounts, the button is there in Classic Canvas but not C4E:
I am a foreign language teacher and I am very concerned about the students being able to access this feature while taking a quiz. If I create a quiz in which I ask students to translate something to demonstrate their understanding of the language, they can click on a button and the program will do it for them. This is just cheating. I understand that this is a helpful feature to support ELL students or students with special abilities, but this is not helpful when the students need to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in a target language. I am really hoping you give the teachers the option to enable and/or disable the Immersive Reader feature for quizzes.
Thank you, Erin. I know that. But the video describing the feature indicates that it will be roll out for Assignments pretty soon. Also, the creator of the video, David Lyons, indicates that "this is not coming to discussions or quizzes just yet. We are having a discussion in the community about the security and the integrity..." So, I am trying to be part of the discussion. This is the link to the video.
Again. This is a helpful tool, but I don't think it is a good idea to have it on quizzes. This is not good if a student is taking a test for his/her Spanish class, French class, etc.
It would be great if the teachers have the ability to turn the feature on/off in their own courses. It would be even better if the teachers are able to turn the feature on for specific students, as needed.
Thank you so much,
Do you have to enable it? I don't see it on a page that only has text on it.
