Feature Request - More robust peer review support
As it stands, the Canvas peer review system has many shortcomings. I suggest some new developments to them to better support alternative and democratic teaching frameworks. The first issue is that there is no such thing as a "Peer review assignment." That is, you can assign a peer review, but you cannot make it an…

Interface of an assignment with enhancements
We are enabling the Assignment Enhancements feature option in the near future and have a couple of questions for clarification: Is there a way for the “View Rubric” section to remain collapsed by default rather than expanded? Is there a particular reason the Submit Assignment button is now positioned in the bottom…

Free Draw Annotation Tool
I have been using the free draw annotation tool for many years to mark "high quality" points made in student work. Just recently, I have discovered that each single mark is requiring a "confirmed checkmark" or it disappears. This is extremely inefficient as I make multiple markups on the submissions. Is there a fix for…

3rd Party Assignment Submissions
We recently enabled the feature: Assignment Enhancements - Student. Previously, the student submission options included 3rd party options regardless of what options (url, file upload, online, text) were selected in the assignment settings. Now, with the setting enabled the only way for students to submit 3rd party…

Feedback on new self-assessment function (after use with students)
Some reflections: First, I love that it's been built at all. It can start some really meaningful dialogues about metacognition and assessment literacy. Second, it needs some more development work yet, such as: * There's currently no way to make this a requirement to complete - it sits only as an optional activity after the…

No more confetti when submitting on time
Since we enabled the assignments Enhanced-feature, students no more get confetti when submitting on time. This despite the fact that the confetti-option is still enabled on the account. Students are really used to seeing this confetti as a confirmation that their submission is succesful, so this is causing some stress.

Feedback on peer reviews in Assignment Enhancements
While evaluating Assignment Enhancement, my institution came across the following improvements when using peer review. * If a student visits the page for making a peer review before they have made their own assignment submission, they get a clear message of “You must submit your own work before you can review your peers.”…

Student user interface feedback
While evaluating Assignment Enhancement, my institution came across the following general improvements of the user interface for students. * It is not obvious to a student that they have only uploaded a document and not submitted yet. The Submit assignment button is now further away from the rest of the workflow, compared…

Progress indicator inconsistency
My institution is evaluating if we should turn Assignment Enhancements on or not. One of the things we have come across is the following. The progress indicator displayed in the student UI usually have 3 steps. In the first 2, the current status is displayed in regular text on the first line. The second line displays what…

Validating a Fix: Submit Button Visibility in Assignment Enhancements

The Issue When students have no remaining attempts on an assignment, they’re currently seeing an active-looking “Submit Assignment” button on the assignment…

Student Access to Feedback/Annotations in Submission History
As a professor, I am able to view the submission history of students (i.e., they submit multiple attempts). However, students are not able to view their previous submissions or any of the feedback I leave on those submissions. This seems counterintuitive to the learning cycle. For example, if a student submits an…

Viewing Annotation of Student Work with Google LTI 1.3
It seems with Assignment Enhancements-Student feature option enabled, students cannot view instructor annotation feedback on previous attempts on assignments. They can only view the feedback on the most recent attempt. This seems counterintuitive to best practice that students should have access to all work/feedback to…

Canvas Assignment Enhancements Prevents Mastery Connect and other Apps from Loading in Full Screen
We were informed by Mastery Connect tech support that this feature in Canvas (Assignment Enhancements) prevents Mastery Connect assessments from displaying in Full Screen resolution. I have disabled this feature in Global in Canvas, but teachers can re-enable this per course. We suspect that this feature is also preventing…
