00:01: Welcome to elevate standards alignment Standard Edition onboarding.
00:04: In this video, we will provide an overview of getting started with
00:08: the standard edition.
00:11: Where do I start with Elevate standards alignment standard edition?
00:16: The best place to get started is the API Documentation located in
00:20: the Developer Documentation Portal, where you will find AB Connect
00:24: interactive documentation. AB Connect refers to the
00:28: API. The documentation provides your development team
00:32: a wealth of information about the data available via the API and
00:36: how they can retrieve that data. But as a Product Manager, you
00:40: will also want to review the metadata that is available via the API and
00:45: determine what information is appropriate for your use case.
00:48: You can review the data using the example section in the documentation.
00:54: Select Elevate Standards Alignment under Partner Facing Services.
00:59: Expand the services menu, then the reference menu, and click Standards.
01:05: Scroll down to fetching a standard and view the details.
01:11: Here are some areas that can help to focus your review.
01:14: You’ll want to understand the hierarchy of the data.
01:17: Each standard has an Authority such as Texas, a Publication
01:21: such as Essential Knowledge and Skills, and a Document which is a subject and
01:25: adoption year. Additional insight into the data can be found in the API
01:30: documentation.
01:34: Let's explore the details. You'll want to consider the type
01:38: of numbering format you want to use. Raw
01:47: will be the number included in the state document and enhanced provides a little more
01:51: structure to the numbering, for example, by prepending parent numbers
01:55: to the standard number. The other types of numbering options are detailed
02:00: in the documentation.
02:05: The Utilization data included on a standard might include examples,
02:09: placeholders, clarifications, alignable, supporting, and
02:13: others. Reviewing this area will help you to direct your programming
02:17: team to those elements that are important to you.
02:22: Some other areas to focus review are the years associated with a document
02:26: including, adoption year, implementation, and assessment years.
02:36: Standard Type describes the organizational levels within a document and includes
02:40: information like Curriculum Area, Context, Theme, Objective,
02:44: Example, etc.
02:48: Additional metadata can include standards in a list and Controlled Strand
02:53: Vocabulary. The Events endpoint details the changes that have been made to
02:57: a standard or document, as well as any new standards that are now available.
03:01: If you plan to store standards data, this can be an important area
03:06: for deciding what type of events will require an update of your data.
03:12: In Elevate standards alignment standard edition.
03:15: We provide multiple relationship types that can be used to expand your
03:19: current alignment to other authorities or other documents within the same Authority
03:23: will define those here to help you decide which combination
03:27: of relationships works best for you.
03:30: An Origin standard is typically a national document like the Common Core
03:35: State Standards.
03:38: A derivative standard is when a state has adopted a standard identical
03:42: or similar to the origin, the API provides you data
03:46: to know if the standard has been modified or is identical to its origin,
03:50: the origin and derivative relationships are related relationships.
03:57: Peer derivatives are related through a common origin standard an
04:01: example of this relationship includes two states that have adopted the Common Core
04:05: State Standards.
04:08: Replaces replaced by relationships are created when a state provides
04:12: guidance on how to migrate alignments from one document to another or
04:16: when they make an update within a document. Can your product make use
04:20: of these relationships if so, you will want to understand how each of them works?
04:27: Now that you understand the data elements, you can work with your development team
04:31: on your API integration. If they do not already have a link
04:35: to the documentation and your API keys, please share that with them your
04:40: development team will help you decide if they want to use API calls to limit
04:44: the standards documents in your product or if you should manage standards using
04:48: our user interface.
04:50: If you determine it is best to manage standards data using our user interface,
04:54: then you can do so by logging on to the academic Benchmark system there
04:59: you will see several options on your home screen.
05:03: You can select manage standards license from the homepage or understands
05:07: on the top menu.
05:11: Once you've reached managed standards, you'll see a series of tabs across the top the
05:16: obsolete tab contains a list of standards that the state is no longer using you
05:20: can remove them from your license or keep them based on your needs.
05:24: To configure standards go to the configure tab drill down into
05:29: the selected standard set and then check or uncheck the boxes for the standards.
05:33: You can also select individual sections of a document.

05:52: Check out the community where you can see which standards were released in the prior month.
06:05: In the community, you will also be able to see standards reference by Authority
