Modernizing Your Mastery Experience: Accessibility and UI UpdatesIn every school district, tools are only as effective as they are accessible. Educators and administrators rely on core workflows every day to track student growth and manage curriculum.
That is why we are excited to announce a series of modernization updates to Mastery Connect. These updates, available first as off by default, the enforced later this summer, are specifically designed to improve usability and ensure WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, providing a more inclusive, efficient, and modern experience for all users.
What’s Changing?
We are rebuilding three of our most-used areas from the ground up to support modern educator and curriculum workflows:
- Curriculum Maps: A modernized experience for managing and scaling curriculum maps.
- Assessments Page: A streamlined interface for navigating and managing your assessments.
- Mastery Tracker Improvements: Enhanced accessibility and performance for your daily data-tracking hub.
Designed for Inclusivity and Efficiency
These updates go beyond a simple fresh coat of paint. By aligning with WCAG 2.1 standards, we are strengthening district compliance and ensuring every role has the tools they need to succeed. Key improvements include:
- Modernized & Responsive User Interfaces: A streamlined look that makes each of these workflows feel faster and easier to use. Our new user interfaces also adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes.
- Keyboard Navigation: Full support for users who navigate without a mouse.
- Improved Screen Reader Support: Ensuring all educators can navigate their data with confidence.
A Phased Rollout to Support Your Success
We understand that the end of the school year is a critical time for testing and data analysis. To ensure a seamless experience and minimize disruption to your district's testing cycles, we are following a phased rollout:
- April Release (Opt-In Window): These features will be OFF by default. Districts can choose to opt-in — which can be adjusted at the user level, allowing early adopters to explore the new UI immediately while others maintain their current workflow.
- July 1 Enforcement: To ensure full accessibility compliance, these updates will be enforced ON for all customers on July 1, 2026.
How to Get Started
The opt-in window is your opportunity to familiarize your team with these modern workflows ahead of the new school year.
