Summary
Issuers can add Canvas modules as native pathway requirements.
- Pathway steps reflect completion of a structured module rather than full course completion or individual assignments.
- Learner progress synchronizes automatically from Canvas.
- Requirements are marked as complete once module completion conditions are satisfied.
Notes:
- To use Canvas modules as pathway requirements, at least one active Canvas Credentials LTI connection is required.
- Learner progress syncs automatically with Canvas. When a module is completed according to its requirements, the pathway requirement is marked complete.
- If module requirements are configured in Canvas, all required items must be completed before the pathway requirement is marked complete. If no requirements are configured, the module may be marked complete as soon as it is accessed.
- Module completion settings are imported directly from Canvas and cannot be configured within Pathways.
- Changes to module settings in Canvas are automatically reflected when learner progress is reevaluated. Pathways follow the module completion rules defined in Canvas and do not modify these settings.
Modules may include requirements such as:
- Completing assignments
- Viewing course content
- Achieving required scores
- Completing items in sequence
Change Benefit
- Structural Alignment: Align pathways with organized course units to represent learning milestones accurately.
- Automated Tracking: Eliminate manual experiences or placeholder credentials by syncing progress directly from Canvas.
- Granular Validation: Support programs that organize learning through modules instead of full course completion.
