How big can you go?!

Hi there,

Right now we have a class of of 840 students with about 70 assignments. Let's multiply that to be 58,800.
We are running into a need to run a merged class site of almost 1000 students sections with almost 70 assignments. 70,000 data points. That's a 20% increase in our that gradebook. Has anyone got that big on Canvas? What is your biggest? What issues do you have at that size? Yes, this is a competition. Please post.

@kbink to help give you an idea for enrollments - we have a course that we recently sunset which as used to help onboard students with using the various technologies. That course had over 25,000 students and was working well. That said, the course had very few assignments - even so the loading of grades was of course very slow. I didn't set this up and would not have chosen to retain students forever - instead I would have chosen to conclude the students after they indicate completion or after one year.

For your course, are you retaining sections? That will help with keeping a reasonable level of performance with the Grades view.

Thank you for your input! I'd forgotten about the speed enhancements. We don't retain students for these classes, they are just that big each semester.
