How to transfer ownership of Studio videos to a different user?

Hello! I'm looking for an efficient way to save Studio videos of users who leave the organization. Our current process is to download and reupload them individually. There must be a better way. Is it possible to just transfer ownership of videos to someone else? Thanks for your help!

@HeatherSaigo - we have tens of thousands of media assets, and our process involves sharing these with edit permission assigned with a generic account. It doesn't matter if the 'original' account is concluded/ suspended/ deleted/ whatever. Then in the generic account we make use of collections and tagging to help organize and enable efficient searching. Works like a champ.

I'm not aware of an easy way to transfer videos to another user's account within Canvas Studio. That sure would be a helpful feature, though! I used Microsoft Co-pilot to confirm this, but one thing you could do (and this would still take some time) is to set videos in that account to "Can Edit" and then specify the other user who has not left the organization. So, within the Studio library, click on the 3-dot kebab icon on a video, then select the "Share Media" option. Set the permission to "Can Edit", and the enter in the name of the person who has not left the organization.

Another thing you might want to consider, though, is to have some sort of generic Canvas account that your team uses specifically for these videos (for example, if the videos were tutorials that your team had put together to include in your own "how to" written guides, you could put all of these videos in a generic team Canvas account so that all team members had access to them, no matter if someone left the organization).

Thanks for the ideas @Chris_Hofer ! I'd thought of sharing the videos with edit permissions for another user, but I'm not sure that means the recipient gets to "own" or keep the videos if the original creator is removed from the system. Do we know what happens to the Studio content if the user is deleted? If it's as easy as sharing edit permissions with a different user, we could create an "archive" user/account and just share everything to that user. I wonder if anyone from Instructure could answer. I've not really tested what happens if a user is deleted, but what you could do is use your school's "test" environment to do some testing on your own. Also, I agree with @Jeff_F. What if you were to "suspend" the user instead of completely deleting the user's account? You could also try out that scenario in "test".
