Summary
Group Exports are available in the User Interface and via API, giving Admins and Org Admins the ability to download structured group data, track group behavior and alignment, and gain insights into group scale and configuration across their program or organization. The Issuer Groups tab includes Awards and Creation Method columns, and exports can be customized with metadata toggles, include archived groups, and accessed via API for integration with reporting tools and audits.
Change Benefit
This update delivers improved visibility and control over group data. Exports are flexible and audit-ready, with configurable metadata fields and embedded data definitions to ensure consistent interpretation across teams. Permitted users can:
- Understand how groups were created, including LMS course links or API-based setup
- Track group alignment to badges or pathways
- View group expiration details and how expiration is managed
- Include or exclude staff members assigned to groups
- Export data at the issuer level for program-specific insights
- Export data at the organization level to identify trends across issuers
- Use APIs to connect group data with internal reporting tools
- Reduce manual work and support tickets related to group structure
Feature Workflow
To access group exports as an issuer, click the Issuer link [1], then navigate to the Data Management tab [2] and Export Groups [3].
In the Group Exports section, issuers can download structured data for all groups associated with an issuer.
Export Groups [1]
- Download a list of all active groups tied to the issuer
- Includes manually created groups, LMS-linked groups, API-created groups, and pathway-generated groups
- Core fields are always included: Group Name, Group ID, alignment type (badge or pathway), and learner count
Archived Groups
- Archived groups are excluded by default
- Admins can enable the Include archived groups toggle to include inactive or sunset groups for retrospective analysis [2]
General Export
Issuers can customize exports using the following optional metadata fields:
- Include group creation method [3]: Shows how and when each group was created (UI, API, LMS, or pathway), including LMS course IDs and deep links where applicable
- Include group expiration method [4]: Displays expiration dates and whether expiration is managed manually or synced from an LMS
- Include staff members [5]: Includes staff names and unique identifiers associated with each group
Additional Exports
Issuers can generate:
- Export badges within groups [6]: Badge and pathway alignment details, including requirement names, thresholds, award methods, and visibility rules
- Export learner progress within groups [7]: One row per learner showing badge progress, latest award, alignment path, and evidence details
Additional Details
- The Groups List page has been updated with two new columns:
- Creation Method shows if the group came from the UI, API, Pathway, or an LMS integration (with course ID and a deep link)
- Awards shows the number of badge assertions linked to each group
Access exports via API
- Issuer-level APIs provide access to the same export data without using the UI
- API requests support the same filters and metadata toggles
- Supports integration with institutional reporting systems and audit workflows
In the Issuer Groups tab, the Awards column [1] displays the number of badge assertions linked to each group. The Creation Method column [2] displays whether the group was created via the User Interface, API, Pathway, or an LMS integration, including the course ID and a link where applicable.
Notes:
- All exports come with helpful headers and filter definitions
- Archived groups are excluded by default but can be included
- Role-based permissions ensure only authorized Users can export group data
- API endpoints support filters, pagination, and match UI exports in structure
To access group exports as an Organization Admin , click the Dashboard link [1], then navigate to the Data Management tab [2] and then the Export Groups section [3].
Organization Admins can export all groups created under any Issuer within the organization, providing a comprehensive view of activity, scale, and configuration across the organization.
View issuer context for every group
Each row in the export includes:
Archived Groups:
- Archived groups can be optionally included using the Include archived groups toggle [1].
- This enables comprehensive audits of both active and retired programs.
Customize Exports
Org Admins can control what metadata appears in the export using the same three toggles:
- Include group creation method [2]: Shows how and when each group was created (UI, API, LMS, or pathway), including LMS course IDs and deep links where applicable
- Include group expiration method [3]: Displays expiration dates and whether expiration is managed manually or synced from an LMS
- Include staff members [4]: Includes staff names and unique identifiers associated with each group
Note: Org-level exports do not include learner progress or badge logic exports. These remain issuer-specific due to role-based access and scalability.
Additional Details
Access exports via API
- Issuer-level APIs provide access to the same export data without using the UI
- API requests support the same filters and metadata toggles
- Supports integration with institutional reporting systems and audit workflows
Use API for Scalable Data Pulls
- Org-scope exports are also available via API, with the same filters and toggle options.
- This allows institutions to build dashboards or internal reports without relying on manual downloads.
