This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 1/28/26.
Description:
The gradebook has three statuses that use color alone to convey meaning. The statuses in question are dropped grades, late submissions, and resubmitted assignments. Dropped is orange, late is blue, and resubmitted is green. This makes it difficult for users who are color blind to see the differences in the statuses.
Expected behavior:
- Add a new setting, under graderbook settings that reads: ‘Show icons to indicate status’
- When toggling on, we show a symbol or shape next to each status
- These symbols will automatically correlate to each color, they will not be configureable by users (eg. blue is always a triangle, red is a circle, etc.)
- These symbols will appear in addition to colors
- In the gradebook, icon should appear under the ‘hidden grades’ indicator dot.
Workaround:
No workaround exists at this time.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create course
- add assignments add past date
- add students
- act as student and submit
- open gradebook and see the different shades of pink for missing and late
