Unable to move user media to course media

I am a system admin but I've tried this both as an admin and as a course teacher.

I have canvas studio media in a user library. I want to move that media to the course library. When I try to use the steps shown here, I only have the option to create a new collection. When I tried to search it says there are no results.

I wasn't the media creator but I believe this specific file was uploaded to studio as opposed to created within studio. That said, I've tried this same process with a video I created directly in studio and had the same results, unable to move. 

Can you please advise how I can move this file so that it appears either in both the user library and the course collection? Or ideally so it can appear only in the course collection?

If I am understanding what you have said and what you are trying to do, what you are trying to do is not possible from within Canvas Studio.

Canvas Studio has two types of collections: (1) "regular" collections and (2) "course" collections.

When using only Canvas Studio, it is not possible to put/move a piece of media into a "course" collection. It is only possible to put/move a piece of media into a "regular" collection.

If you have a piece of media that already exists in your Canvas Studio library that you would like to be in a "course" collection, you have to add the piece of media to content in a course in the Canvas LMS. The most common way of doing that is to create a page in a Canvas LMS course and use the RCE (as described at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Studio-Guide/How-do-I-use-Canvas-Studio-through-the-Rich-Content-Editor-in/ta-p/1714) to add the video to the page.

If the piece of media does not already exist in your Canvas Studio library, you can add it to a "course" collection by going into a Canvas LMS course and...

1. using the same steps above for the RCE and either...
   1. uploading a video
   2. recording something new
   3. adding a YouTube or Vimeo video
2. clicking on the "Studio" link from the left-side course navigation (as described at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Studio-Guide/How-do-I-access-Canvas-Studio-through-my-Canvas-Course/ta-p/1710)
