How to show the QR code for mobile on a private Canvas installation

Hello I have installed Canvas LMS free package on a private server owned by a NGO (actually I asked a professional to do the installation). I am in charge of designing the courses and I was wondering if it is possible and how to enable the QR code to login with Canvas mobile app for students. We obviously don't have a SIS, as we are not a school, but probably we can use the QR login.

hi there,

i am helping out a volunteer instituition to manage canvas LMS. I am learning how to manage it and have a self hosted canvas lms installation but I can't seem to enable the QR for mobile login and i have searched the doccumentation, it all points to the enable the feature options, but I could not find it there, can someoe help? do I need to install a module or compile it into the system?

please help.

Hi there @elena18 and @mikefoong !

You can enable the QR for mobile login in a self hosted Canvas instance from the root level of your canvas instance under settings. You should see a check box that says allow logins to the mobile apps via the use of QR codes.

You will want to have this enabled for the use of qr logins to work, under your root account (not under the site admin account)! However, your account will need access to Site Admin permissions in order for this to appear.
