Canvas is a mine packed with hidden gems that can save instructors time, clicks, and headaches...if you know where to dig. As a Learning Technologies Specialist, I work with faculty who often discover that some of their biggest wins aren’t new add-ons or fancy integrations - they’re already built into Canvas, hiding in plain sight.
In this session, we’re grabbing a headlamp and going prospecting. We’ll unearth some of these Canvas hidden gems: Gradebook settings that do heavy lifting, SpeedGrader features that make feedback smoother, and communication tools to help you reach students more efficiently. Some of these have been buried in Canvas for years; others are newer finds. Each one is an upgrade you can start using immediately. You’ll leave with a personalized treasure map: a curated list of high-impact Canvas gems, along with a clear pathway to find them, turn them on, and put them to work in your courses.
