Exclamation points and stopwatches in gradebook cells

In the ever-changing milieu of gradebook icons, we are now seeing black exclamation points or stopwatches to the right of some student grades. What do they mean??? Honestly, still having trouble sorting the red exclamation marks on the left and the cross-out eye that somehow doesn't mean "not visible." Now these. I checked the Canvas resource on gradebook icons, and these are not in it.

Hello @bsr - my experience is that the timer icon is related to an originality checker - this indicates it is still checking the submission.

Can you share some information about how this assignment is configured? What type of submission is this? Is it graded, are points assigned, is it in an assignment group that has weight assigned, is it an external tool, etc.?

This guide mentioned the timer at the bottom.
