We're thrilled to be back in 2026 with a new season of Educast3000!
Out first episode is a conversation with Professor Martin Bean, where he shares his perspective on how institutions of learning and education need to evolve to support a successful workforce in the future.
To support the vital growth mindset we want for our students (and ourselves), Professor Bean believes education requires dynamic, flexible pathways, including collaboration between educators and employers. His key ideas around creating success for all students — including adult, non-traditional, and workforce learners — emphasize:
- Humility over ego: Martin recalls a professor who failed him because his "real-world" answer didn't fit a theoretical mold. Institutions need to exist for the learner, not academic egos.
- Moving beyond the "episode": Learning isn't a one-time "magic pill" or a single degree; it’s a continuous capability. We learn how to learn and continue learning with time.
- The "re-entry" model: Instead of designing solely for the 18-to-22-year-old "completion" journey, we need to design for "re-entry" and recognize that our students are often already employees who need to move in and out of learning as a normal part of life.
