The InstructureCon 2026 Call for Proposals is open (deadline: March 20). Tried something in Canvas that worked or failed spectacularly? That’s a session idea. Don’t wait for perfect. Submit it and join the conversation.
Let’s get something out of the way right now:
If you’ve ever said, “I’m not sure my idea is good enough for InstructureCon,” this post is about you.
If you’ve ever thought, “Someone else is already doing this better,” this post is definitely about you.
And if you’ve ever opened the Call for Proposals page, skimmed it, closed the tab, and told yourself you’d “come back to it later”… hi. Welcome. You’re among friends.
The InstructureCon 2026 Call for Proposals is open, and it closes on March 20, 2026. That’s not a lot of time, but it is enough time to turn that half-formed idea into something the Community actually needs to hear.
Here’s the secret that somehow never makes it into official conference materials:
The best InstructureCon sessions don’t start as “conference talks.” They start as conversations.
- “This thing we tried that surprisingly worked”
- “This thing we tried that absolutely did not work”
- “I wish someone had told me this before we rolled it out”
If you’ve lived through a Canvas implementation, redesigned a course, supported faculty at scale, wrestled with assessment, or figured out a workaround that saved your sanity, you already have a session. You don’t need a groundbreaking idea. You need an honest one.
An Unofficial (But Strongly Encouraged) Reality Check
Every year, the same ritual plays out:
Someone says, “We should submit something.” Everyone nods. No one clicks Submit.
Usually because of one of these thoughts:
- “It’s not polished enough.”
- “We’re still figuring it out.”
- “I don’t know if we’re doing it right.”
Here’s the thing: InstructureCon thrives on real work, not perfect endings. Sessions rooted in lived experience, including what you tried, what you learned, and what you’d do differently, are the ones people talk about long after the conference ends.
And yes, there’s a practical perk worth mentioning: accepted presenters receive 50% off the standard conference registration. That’s Instructure literally investing in your voice. But the bigger payoff is sharing your story, finding your people, and realizing you’re not the only one navigating these challenges in real time.
So Here’s the Friendly Nudge You Didn’t Ask For
Open the proposal page.
Read the guidelines.
Draft something imperfect.
Submit it anyway.
The worst-case scenario is a polite “not this year.”
The best-case scenario is a room full of people thinking, “I needed this session.”
