Change in SSO

Question

Hi, would a change in SSO from Shiboleth to Azure SAML affect 3rd party LTI integrations into a Canvas instance as a general rule?  I'm not a developer, just have an admin role to our school's LMS and this seems like it could be a place to ask and get an answer.  Thanks!

Hi @JACOBSEN_C,

As a general rule, I'm going to say that just changing auth providers shouldn't affect LTI Integrations, but there's a big caveat on top of this general answer.  If you've configured shibboleth auth to do any provisioning/population of data into Canvas, you'd need to make sure to do the same thing with Azure (I don't know if it's even possible in Azure, we only have Shibboleth here), and also ensure that the data from Azure would be identical to what Shibboleth had.  If there's a change in any user data, it's goign to be very hard to predict what LTI tools may do, as they can all use different data fields from Canvas in different ways.
