I'm using New Quizzes. I am allowing students two attempts on a test which includes a written response using the Essay question type. The second attempt is in build-on mode.
While grading the tests a second time, students may or may not have completed the essay again depending on the score they got the first time. The essay shows up on every second attempt regardless of their score on it on the first attempt.
In speedgrader, if they got a good score the first time and skipped it for the second, I cannot use the dropdown menu in the upper right to look at their previous attempt - the screen won't change to show the previous submission like it used to. I don't know if this is a bug with the New Quizzes. Instead, I'm using the Student Analysis report and CTRL-Fing in an Excel spreadsheet to look up the score from the previous attempt.
Is there a way to view the essay score from the previous attempt directly in the Speedgrader?
Is there a way to stop the essay question from appearing on the re-take if they earned a passing score on it in build-on mode?
