Your feedback and partnership have been huge in shaping Enhanced Rubrics, and because of this group, the feature is in a really strong, GA-ready place.

As we head toward GA, we’d love one last gut check from you all:

BIG ISSUE: We CAN'T use this in any existing courses because you can't toggle between the HTML and the BCE. Full stop.

We are using outcomes in combinations with the enhanced rubrics and have noticed in certain views the colors we see on the teacher side do not show the same for the student view.

We have also noticed that in certain views the updated rubric setting (such as low to high) does not follow thorugh for the student view.

This was a bit disappointing as we thought the students also saw the colors in all cases. Please let me know if I should make a ticket with this info or send more info via another channel.

Specifically:
Not Yet Competent should show as red and partially competent should show as yellow. It shows like that for the teacher view wherever we see it.

Here is the speedgrader view for the teacher:

When we look at it from the student side, Here the colors from the outcomes attached to the rubric do not follow.
The screenshot below is the student when accessing their assessment from the assignment page.

Everything is a default green which is not the green we are using and the red and yellow does not show:

If the student goes via grades, then expands the rubric, the color shows but the rubric setting low to high does not follow. This rubric is set to low to high, but the student here views it as high to low.

Thanks for this feedback. We have some changes coming to the BCE that will be announced soon. This should be resolved as a result so stay tuned.

Thanks for the detail! You can definitely file a ticket for this - I can have the team take a look as well, but a support ticket would likely be better in this case.

I posted this feedback in the wrong forum. This was in regards to the Block Content Editor and not Rubrics. Apologies for any confusion. Although, I would love if Enhanced Rubrics DID have some formatting options or even the full rich content editor formatting tools, though! Plain text only sometimes makes the look of the rubrics less professional.

Will further improvements be made to setting rubrics to be used for grading by default? This is something we have wanted for awhile and thought was supposed to be a part of the re-design too. When creating a rubric, we would like to be able to mark that it should be used for grading by default, so that when it is associated with an assignment, it defaults to use for grading. It would be even better if we could have an account setting that allowed us to say that by default when associating a rubric it should be used for grading so that schools that do want it as the default can enable it and those that don't can leave it disabled for the current experience.

In addition, I agree with the Rubric Settings/Options - Visible Without Clicking Edit prompt that the rubric settings should be visible by default so it is easier to identify the issue that a rubric isn't working as expected due to the setting not being configured properly to use it for grading. Even if the settings can't be changed without clicking edit, at least seeing the setting would make it clearer to users how it is configured (but it would be preferred to be able to edit).

Another nice to have feature would be the ability to enforce grading with a rubric (potential exception when using a grading status and a default grade is applied). If a rubric is set to be used for grading, then it should be expected that submissions would be graded using the rubric. In addition, if a rubric includes Outcomes, it is critical that instructors grade using the rubric or the score won't feed data to Outcomes.

Similarly, it would be nice to have a setting to restrict grading a criteria to the available rating rather than allowing custom points to be entered so scores can be more consistent, especially with Outcomes.

Has documentation been created on using the Import Rubric feature yet that describes expectations and/or limitations? In addition, has the import process when updated to support importing Outcomes as criteria too?

We've been importing rubrics andit seems that Outcomes as criteria is not supported at this time, but that would be super helpful if it could be in the future. We are importing a template then adding (and rearranging) the outcomes manually.

I also found that you could not include Rubric settings such as scored or unscored or low to high/high to low, but that would be very nice to include in the import.

With my browser extension, on the Assignments page, the "Load assignment details" button includes noting any associated rubric if it is used for grading or not. This is a quick way to audit all assignments to check that rubrics are set-up properly. In addition, when on an individual assignment, with the old designs, it would indicate if the rubric was used for grading or not for a quick view of that setting. I still need to update this to work with the re-designs, but if you built this in natively, I wouldn't need to develop it.

@JamesSekcienski Thanks for sharing. Would you like the 'use rubric for grading' setting to be configurable from the Rubrics Index? This is an assignment-specific setting, so it's currently only configurable at the assignment level. And we'll take a look at this request and we consider further improvements.

Importing Outcomes is something we'd like to be able to do in the future. We are exploring improvements to the import/export process in the coming months. It doesn't look like we have much documentation around the rubric Import and Export features — I can work on that in the mean time!

Yes, when creating a Rubric from the Rubric Index, it would be nice to set the rubric so that it is used for grading. That way when it is associated with assignments, it will automatically be set to use for grading rather than defaulting to not be used for grading. When you create a Rubric in the Rubric Index and then go to associated it with an assignment, it doesn't present the association settings. Thus, it is easy to forget to edit the associated rubric after associating it with an assignment to make sure it is set to use for grading.

Alternatively, it would be nice if there was simply an Account Setting we could use to control the default behavior for our site so that every time a rubric is associated with an assignment in that sub-account, it will follow the Account Setting to use for grading when initially associated. In nearly all of our use cases, we want the rubrics to be used for grading, so it would be more convenient for the default behavior to follow that process for us and not require additional clicks/setting changes.

There appears to be a bug that prevents Account Admins that have the permission "Course Content - view", but not the permission "Rubrics - add / edit / delete" from viewing associated rubrics on assignments when using "Enhanced Rubrics." These users are able to view the associated rubric for Discussions and they can see the rubric in SpeedGrader if they have access to view grades.

Ideally, there would be a way to provide view only access to the Rubric Index too, but at a minimum they should be able to see the Enhanced Rubric that is associated with an assignment when looking at an assignment. When "Enhanced Rubrics" isn't enabled, the associated rubric is visible on an assignment for users with the above permissions.
