I wonder if others have had this response, but I think it is troubling messaging for students that, no matter how well they may do on an assignment, they are given a signal that anything below a perfect score should be marked/denoted with a red color, as if those grades are poor, or even lesser. I think it is harmful for students to have their grades valued in this way, and to reinforce the idea that anything less than 100% should be coded separately. This contributes to already troubling unrealistic expectations and overemphasis on their learning being assessed only numerically. Some may feel this is an overreaction on my part, or perhaps I'm incorrect about the students' view if it is different from mine, but it's what I see when I look at students in the grade book individually, and I wonder if anyone has had the same reaction. I would like those who run this platform to consider changing this.
