Everything says change the mini-calendar and then take it to the new month, but that does not work. The mini-calendar and main calendar sync to the same month.

Continuing on and trying to help you, I just tried to drag-and-drop a sample event in my calendar from December 2025 to January 2026 and I was not able to. Actually, let me briefly correct/clarify that. When December 2025 is visible, I was able to drag-and-drop onto January 1st, January 2nd, or January 3rd (or November 30th) because they appear at the same time as the month of December.
If you wanted to drag-and-drop, you could do it but it would need to be done twice with a middle step:
I understand that this option would not be possible (unless done multiple times) if you are trying to change to a month that is further in the future (or the past).
Without doing that steps that I mentioned above, I do not believe that it is possible to do what you are trying to do. Another option would be to not drag-and-drop and instead:

Please Note: Depending on the type of item (event, to-do, some sort of assignment) and individual settings, your users/students might receive a notification when dragging-and-drop using the option that I mentioned above.
