Well, I early-adapted. Turns out that using tags breaks the entire Moderate Quiz function. My entire course and everything in it is assigned by tags, and now I can't moderate anything. Sigh.
@bsr - as a work-around, we found that, often, if you take off the Assign To by tags, open the the moderate quiz function to see all the students, then put your tags back, you can get to moderate again. I believe we have a record open with Instructure Support, but I don't have the number.
@rake_9 Is this a quiz-by-quiz work-around? As in, would I have to unassign and re-assign every quiz that I need to moderate, individually?
If doing this once clears the problem and allows moderation across all quizzes, then it's a great work-around. If it has to be done for each quiz individually, then it's just as much work as going back and assigning by course sections rather than tags (exactly what I didn't want to do, exactly the reason I was in the chorus cheering for tags!).
Since Moderate is a quiz-by-quiz function, it would need to be done quiz-by-quiz. This was also the situation of the person who reported this to us. As I suggested, this would only be a work-around until Instructure fixed the problem. And it did not work in all cases.
