Canvas Student Release Notes (iOS 7.2)

In Canvas Student 7.2, students can set assignments and quiz reminders. Additionally, on the Grades page students can view their total grade based on graded assignments only and the interface is updated.

Canvas iOS app version updates are distributed in a phased rollout, which distributes the update to all users enrolled in automatic updates over time. The features in these notes may not immediately be available, but iOS users can manually update the app at any time in the iTunes Store. The Canvas Student iOS App requires iOS 15.0 or later.

Assignments

Reminder Notifications

Students can create reminder notifications for assignments and Quizzes with due dates.

Notes: 

• In iOS settings, notifications must be enabled for the Canvas Student App. 
• Reminders are linked to the specific device and are not shared between multiple devices.
• This feature is available for mobile devices only.

Assignment Details Add Reminder Icon

In an assignment, tap the Add Reminder icon.

Reminder Default Options

Select the desired reminder notification. To add multiple reminders, students must set each reminder individually.

Note: Students can only set one reminder per reminder type at a time. The maximum number of reminders per assessment is 10.

Custom Reminders

Additionally, students can set custom reminders for assessments.

Set Reminders and Delete Icon

Reminders display in the assignment details [1]. To remove a reminder, tap the Delete icon [2].

Note: Overdue reminders do not display in the assignment or quizzes details.

 

Delete Reminder Confirmation

When deleting a reminder, a confirmation modal displays.

Grades

Show Grade Based on Graded Assignments

Students can view grades based on graded assignments or all assignments.

Based on Graded Assignments Toggle

Students can toggle between their grade total based on graded assignments or total assignments.

Based on Graded Assignments Locked

If an instructor has disabled grade totals displaying in the Grades page, a lock icon displays.

Interface update

The Grades page interface page is updated with minor color updates and students can arrange assignments by group or due date.

Grading Period Link and Arrange By Link

Students can filter by grading periods [1] and arrange by assignment group or due date [2].

Note: Depending on the institution, the grading periods link may not display.

 

Grading Period Filter Options

To filter by grading periods, click the All link.

Arrange By Filter Options

To organize by assignment group or due date, tap the Arrange By link.
